WHAT DO YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ANXIETY AND RECOVERY?

When we struggle, often our friends and family members do not understand why we struggle. They can wind up confused and unsure of how to help or what to do. Sometimes this leads to frustration or even anger and conflict.

Anxiety Explained for Friends and Family is a pre-recorded Zoom-based workshop designed specifically to be watched with the people in your life that want to help you, but just don't know how. In this workshop, you will learn about:

  • The difference between "regular anxiety" and disordered anxiety
  • What an anxious person experiences and what disordered anxiety feels like
  • Why the fear an anxious person feels is REAL and not just "in their head"
  • How family and relationship conflict can arise when disordered anxiety is an issue
  • Common mis-steps and misconceptions about supporting an anxious person
  • Avoiding information overload and overwhelm
  • When you want to "fix" your loved one's anxiety for them
  • The difference between compassionate validation and accommodation
  • Why its difficult to support an anxious person in recovery
  • Being a gentle cheerleader
